Although Selkirk is smaller, its courses are as good, and in some ways better, than equivalent courses offered at bigger institutions. Selkirk was able to meet all of my needs as a post-secondary student. All of my credits transferred and I’m happy to say that I felt over-prepared for my third year biochemistry classes!
My Selkirk College experience was exceptional. Selkirk College has great instructors who are actually motivated to teach students, unlike some at larger institutions. I found that Selkirk College was able to meet all of my needs as a post-secondary student, and the learning experience was especially rich. The ability to talk to your instructors outside of class time was a large asset. My courses at Selkirk, especially my second year courses, allowed me to pursue work in a biochemistry lab here at UNBC. This was because a lab component was tied into all of my first and second year courses once a week. This was a major advantage when switching to UNBC because I had already been introduced to many laboratory techniques being taught to us in this year, third year.
I am currently continuing my education at UNBC, and am now in my third year of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, planning on attending medical school in 2012.
