Waseem Daniel-Hakhroo is a 21 year old student from Lake Country, B.C. who is currently residing in Nelson. He has been drumming for over ten years and aspires to become a percussionist for Cirque du Soleil after he gains experience performing on cruise ships.
As a young child, he always found a way to turn any household objects into drum sticks. His first grade teacher was especially unenthusiastic about him drumming with his recorder. Over the years, his musical taste began to develop and expand. While in high school, he gained a lot of support and drive from his band teacher, Sergei Ryga, to pursue music. He played in concert and jazz band through the school, and he also drummed for a local reggae band called Chipko Jones. A year after graduating from George Elliot Secondary School, Waseem applied to Selkirk College so he could advance his passion for music. He studied jazz and various types of music which broadened his skill set. Waseem plays a multitude of styles and enjoys performing fusion-oriented music.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is by donation.
