Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST I)
Learn avalanche phenomena, safe winter travel techniques, rescue and snowpack assessment. Includes 1 evening class and 2 days in the back country. If you have seven or more people requiring this training, we can set a custom course to suit your time schedule and sport. Equipment can be borrowed from Selkirk but students must advise during registration (probe, shovel, beacon).

Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 (AST II)
Expand your skills and knowledge in Avalanche Safety, this course involves 4 days in the back country and 2 evenings of classroom sessions covering advanced Avalanche theory, hazard recognition, stability evaluation, route finding, rescue, and group management. Participants must be physically fit and advanced, intermediate or expert skiers or boarders with backcountry travel equipment. Prerequisites: Avalanche Skills Tranining Level 1 , or permission from the instructor.
